Can we use a laptop so it stays on during power cuts?
Absolutely! This is one of our most popular requests. We use refurbished enterprise laptops with healthy batteries. To protect your investment, we configure the OS to stop charging at 60% so the battery doesn’t swell from being plugged in 24/7. It acts as the perfect built-in UPS!
How does this work with Nigerian power cuts?
Whether you choose a laptop (with its own battery) or a Mini PC, they consume very little power (often less than 15 watts). They run perfectly on basic home inverters or small UPS devices for hours without draining your batteries.
Do I need a static IP from MTN or Spectranet?
No! Nigerian ISPs use CGNAT which breaks traditional port forwarding. We configure Cloudflare Tunnels on your server, creating a secure, encrypted tunnel to the internet so you can access your apps from anywhere using a standard domain name.
Can I connect a custom domain?
Yes. If you own a domain (e.g., yourname.com), we can route it so your apps are accessible at photos.yourname.com or media.yourname.com safely.
Is it a one-time fee or monthly?
The hardware and setup is a one-time fee. There are zero subscriptions required to use the open-source software (CasaOS, Plex, Nextcloud). We only charge an optional small retainer if you want us to perform monthly updates and maintenance remotely.
What if my internet is completely down?
That’s the beauty of a local server! As long as your Wi-Fi router is on, you can still stream movies to your TV or access your files locally at gigabit speeds, completely offline.
